10 Days 9 Nights Trip Itinerary to Taiwan
Nantou – Kenting – Kaohsiung – Taipei
Travelled in Dec 2011, winter season
*Family trip planned by our Taiwanese uncle and travelled around the whole journey on a rented tour bus
Day 1 @ Departs Singapore/ To Nantou
Singapore Changi Airport → Taoyuan Airport → Cingjing → Check in Cingjing Guomin Guesthouse
00:55 – Singapore Changi Airport to Taoyuan Airport (4 hr flight via TransAsia Airways – route cancelled in 2013)
Bought the promotional flight tickets to Taipei with TransAsia Airways and IIRC, ticket per pax was around S$400+ which I think was great value for a full service flight. Upon meeting our Taiwanese relatives at Taoyuan Airport, we boarded the tour bus and went straight from Taipei to Cingjing Farm. The roads leading up to Cingjing can be both thrilling and uncomfortable because of the altitude difference…Hotel for the next 2 nights was at Cingjing Guomin Guesthouse.
The stay in Cingjing:

Day 2 @ Cingjing Farm
Cingjing → Green Green Grassland
Next morning, we head to Green Green Grassland which is the main attraction of Cingjing. Here’s where herds of sheep roam around this big piece of grassland under the big blue sky and the whole place is just so picturesque.
Day 3 @ Aowanda
Cingjing → Aowanda → Puli Brewery → Check in Puli Jia Yuan Minsu
We continued our Nantou trip next day and the first stop was Aowanda National Forest Recreation Area, known as ‘the home for maple trees’ where people flock here for the colours of autumn foliage. Aowanda suspension bridge is another highlight here but will take quite a bit of walking to reach it. The afternoon was spent at Puli Brewery for a stopover as Puli Jia Yuan Minsu check in time is 4pm.

Day 4 @ Sun Moon Lake
Puli → Sun Moon Lake → Wenwu temple → Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village → Check in Sun Moon Lake Teachers Hostel

Day 5 @ Sun Moon Lake/ Xitou
Ci En Pagoda → Xitou Nature Education Area → Xitou Monster Village → Check in Xitou Education Center
I tried in vain to wake up earlier next day to capture the sunrise at the roof of Sun Moon Lake Teachers Hostel. While I didn’t exactly catch the sunrise moments but the mesmerizing crystal clear lake made up for everything. We also hiked up to Ci En Pagoda for a better look at Sun Moon Lake. Then we travelled southwards to Xitou Nature Education Area which is a sanctuary for nature lover. The night was spent at a villa funnily-named as Xitou Education Center.

Day 6 @ Kenting
Xitou → Hengchun → Kenting → Check in Howard Beach Resort Kenting → Kenting Night Market
After 5 days around the lovely Nantou County, we head further south by taking a long drive towards Pingtung County. Stopped by Hengchun Township which is the southernmost township in Taiwan and a gateway to Kenting. After checking in at Howard Beach Resort, we didn’t do much except exploring Kenting Night Market.

Day 7 @ Kenting
Kenting National Park → Shadao Eco-Protection Area → Eluanbi Lighthouse → Jia Le Shui
It’s time to check out what Kenting is known for – sunny weather, blue skies, sandy beaches and gorgeous coastlines. And yes, the ocean and landscape here in Kenting are 100% breathtaking! From our hotel, we travelled along the southernmost road in Taiwan and visited Shadao Eco-Protection Area, Eluanbi Lighthouse and Jia Le Shui.
Day 8 @ Kaohsiung
Kenting → Kaohsiung → E-Da Outlet Mall → Check in Fullon Hotel Kaohsiung → Cijin Island → Love River
Our first stop in Kaohsiung was E-Da Outlet Mall which carries famous international brands. Time for retail therapy and wow…huge mall! After check in at Fullon Hotel Kaohsiung, we board the ferry to Cijin Island known for its seafood. Thereafter, I also went out for a stroll along Love River despite the chilling night.
